A Final Message

When it was tweeted that, "Battles Are Won in the Hearts of Men" it’s probably one of the few serious moments that we’ve had throughout this twitter rivalry. Now as we stand on the brink of one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, Currie Cup final in recorded history we feel it’s the perfect time to take stock.

Words cannot express how grateful we are to each and every one of you. What started as a friendly dare between two friends has grown beyond our wildest dreams. We can’t exactly say how or why, but it has transcended race, culture and background.

It’s been a week where we’ve focused entirely on our differences, yet for 80 minutes on Saturday we will all be united in rugby. From the fishermen in Hout Bay screaming “WP Jou Lekker Ding” to the millionaire from Umhlanga proudly displaying his Black & White.

To think that all the interest, all the banter, all the chirps and jibes have been for what outsiders might consider a pretty odd looking trophy. Yet engraved in every inch of this cup lies a history of a nation once divided now united. This trophy has told a million stories and will continue to do so. This trophy has reduced grown men to tears and made gods of mere mortals.

To thank any single person for your contribution to this competition would be a grave injustice. Instead we forgot our differences, be we great sportsmen or office workers, and united behind the Blue & White of WP or the Black & White of the Sharks. Whatever your views, positive or negative are of this Twitter rivalry at least keep this in mind: For a split second  8000 people were united in a common cause.

For those of you who have followed from afar purely because of a friend of a friend of a friend, we hope that this would be your first taste of what it feels like to be South African. The pride, the passion and the heart.

We hope to welcome you with open arms to Newlands or Kings Park and we hope that looking at the pictures and framed jerseys adorning its hallowed halls you will be as inspired as we have been, so that you may say, “Ah, now I understand.” That next time you have the pleasure of watching those 15 men wearing the Green & Gold of the Springbok you will remember the blood and pride that has been poured into that sacred jersey and appreciate it

To the 44 men who have been selected to do your duty tomorrow, we know that no matter what happens you will have done the jersey proud. A lot of talk has gone into positional battles and other technical aspects, and to most it has caused a lot of derision and tension. It seems rather strange though that in a matter of days these will have all been forgotten as we all unite behind the Boks.

As such, after much deliberation, we have eventually decided to end the competition at 10am, Saturday 30th October 2010. We hope to meet along the way as friends and not adversaries and we hope that you stay with us on Twitter long after the final whistle so that we may all share in the successes of our great players!

According to http://www.nfljerseyfan.com NFL Jerseys cheap Talk, the Ravens are now one of seven teams to cut employee salaries or put employees on non-paid furloughs. We commend the six teams that have made the commitment to avoid cutting the salaries of the lowest-paid workers and hope more teams will follow suit.

A tear-jerker guys! I know I gave you both a hard time for this, and in essence that was me being still unable to wrap my head around the fact that my beloved Bulls will not even be on sidelines today. To both of teams I wish you well, I'll be watching with pride as this is indeed much, much greater than any animosity. Thank you both for displaying health rivalry, for getting the entire country hyped for this clash. Yes! This is what SA sport is all about, thank you for the reminder. I am still on the fence, so I'll just rock a Bok jersey, as a pledge to both teams. You make this count
