It has just been announced that DHL will be the new umbrella sponsors for WPRFU. DHL who are the leading  international express, air, ocean freight, road and rail transportation courier specialists have put their considerable muscle behind one of South Africa's premier rugby franchises.

The WPRFU President Tobie Titus said that DHL had entered into a "three year deal with the WPRFU and that the amount of the sponsorship is confidential." WP Rugby MD Rob Wagner said that "this was a monumental and historical day" and that he was ecstatic that DHL and Western Province would be working so close together. DHL MD for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phil Couchman stated, "We have no intention of being a passive sponsor and are looking to fully immerse ourselves in WP rugby," he added.

"DHL will not be just another sponsor, but they will be an extra player,” said Tobie Titus. "It is not about the money at all but the backing of DHL will be used in rugby development in the Western Province."

All teams who fall under the WPRFU will now be known as DHL Western Province or DHL Stormers and although the naming rights of the stadium have not yet been discussed it was mentioned that it could be up for discussion sometime in the future.
