Lambie: Remover Of The Most Stubborn Blue Steyns?

Many questions were answered for the Sharks when they got beaten by Western Province and the team that will face the Blue Bulls on Saturday will without doubt be a far more settled team. In a way Plumtree couldblue_bull_melting afford to experiment with the team that faced WP and the Sharks outfit that fronts up to the Blue Bulls will be in for a surprise one fancies.

Let take a look at the flyhalf experiment that Plumtree tried out against WP. Pretorius had a mediocre match and it was clear to see that he was not up with the pace. The half back combination of Kockott and Pretorius looked poor and only a mad man is going to pick them to start against the Blue Bulls.

As soon as Charl Macleod and Pat Lambie came together late in the second half it was noticeable how much better the line moved and there seemed to be far less panic. Lambie is a class act and although I agree that he is being revered too soon  as the next champion I do believe that the youngster would be relishing the challenge to go up against the Springbok incumbent. For me he is already a cut above Andre Pretorius.

Kockott has been a disappointment this year that much is obvious. Last year I wouldn’t have minded to see him playing for the ‘Boks. However this year he seems to play with less confidence and he is not the regular kicker a job which he did well in 2009. Frenetic at the best of times he was slow to the breakdown and made crucial mistakes when the Sharks were on attack. For pity sake he even made Ricky Januarie look good!

Charl Macleod is playing some great rugby, he is electric around the base of the scrum and punches way above his weight in the tackle situation. Macleod also creates good space for Lambie with a fast and accurate pass which is far better than Kockott’s effort.

The article at www.thebounce.co.za makes my laugh when it talks about the Bulls suddenly becoming a '' rolling juggernaut" just because they have Bakkies back. Bakkies is a walking red card and I will be surprised if he plays the full 80!

Add the ever competitive Willem Alberts and Keegan Daniel and you suddenly have a Sharks outfit that is conciderably stronger than the one that lost by 10 points against a full strength WP side.

It could even get better if JP. Pietersen is declared fit.

Home ground advantage and a motivated team hungry for some Currie, which sane person would say the Sharks will be a walk over?
