The Bulls will without doubt form the basis of what will hopefully be a very strong Springbok team this year, and we can expect some good representation from the Stormers too with the reputations of some Sharks players helping them to get the nod. This is who we thought impressed, had a shocker or could be the nations new dark horse to look out for. What do you think?

Bulls

Stormers

Sharks

Cheetahs

Lions

Player who is put his hand up

Pierre Spies: It was great to see the big man running with pace and tackling with intent. At times he was untouchable.

Fancois ‘Flo’ Louw: Is playing some of the best rugby of his short career. He will be unlucky not to get penciled in for the ‘bok team

Stefan Terblanche: Age is not on his side but the veteran fullback was very safe and never out of position.

Cheetahs did not play this week

Doppies La Grange: It’s a great name and he never gave up. Don’t think he will get a ‘bok call up but looked good in a useless backline.

Player who had a shocker

Very unfair to choose anyone here for the Bulls.

Ricky Januarie: He was only on for 20 mins but Jeepers he is not up to scratch. Managed to concede a try after his first scrum.

Riaan Swanepoel:  This should be shared with Waylon Murray really. Subbed and hardly did anything noteworthy.

Cheetahs did not play this week

Earl Rose: It’s becoming boring now and maybe there is a worse player in the team but I can’t find him yet

Dark Horse having a blinder

Gerhard vd Heever: The complete package! Will give Habana a run for his money. Scored a great try from 70 m.

Dewalt Duvenage: He is looking like the only real threat to Fourie DP at the moment. Reads the game brilliantly and hardworking

Steven Sykes: Good work rate and was an important part of the Sharks stability in the lineouts and the rucks. Great in defence too.

Cheetahs did not play this week

Wandile Mjekevu: I really enjoy watching the lad play and don’t see him lasting long in the lions set up. Expect to see him flourish in another team.
