Bulldozing the Landers

It's difficult to criticise a 50 - 35 bullocking but the Bulls didn't quite look their normal bright blue this weekend and seemed to suffer from a strange form of post-bye blues as they nonetheless rollicked over the perennial plucky whipping boys, New Zealand's Highlanders.

I thought the Bulls performance could better be described as 'gun-metal blue' – their double barrel bent and mis-firing, at times frustratingly so when right on their opponents try line. Without being over critical, the Bulls themselves will admit this wasn't a tip-top performance and that the 35 points the Highlanders regained, was a bit of a letdown especially considering the 'nil-ing' (33-0) the Stormers handed the airy-fairy Landers last week.

But 50 - 35 was enough for the Bulls to keep their 100% record intact. They've played for home games, with four home referee's and have four bonus points. Some might say they're a little selfish when it comes to not denying their opponents bonus points but players like Pierre Spies and Victor Matfield again turned out top performances underlining the class of this side this season.

The Blou Masjien might have had a splutter or two but they're looking like V8's amongst a field of four cylinder opponents. (Except for the Stormers who proved they're V12's)

Man of the Match: Pierre Spies had good runs, Victor Matfield deserves a mention for his line-out work but Israel Dagg was having a blinder scoring three tries so he my Man of the Match.

My I remind you Greg that Dagg also was crap under the high ball and that 2 tries came of balls he couldn't handle.
