Just Rugby’s resident hottie (and the only fashionable member of our team) Robyn Hobson chats to Highlanders skipper and all round great guy Jimmy Cowan, in the first installment of "Robyn’s Stylish Ballz". As always Robyn continues the Just Rugby tradition of penetrating deep into the minds of great players with such probing questions as why love sucks and why we rugby players are actually pretty soft in real life.

JR – Just Rugby

JC – Jimmy Cowan

JR: Could you describe yourself in three words:

JC: Tired at the moment, (laughs) jeepers I don’t know…. Hmmm 3 words. Energetic? Yeah you can just write whatever.

JR: Enjoying SA so far?

JC: Yeah, I enjoy South Africa, I enjoy Cape Town. It’s my 12th time here. Boys are training well and always helps coming off a good win. Always enjoy it, so it’s great.

JR: So down to serious rugby talk; SA girls or NZ girls, which do you prefer? No pressure to say SA because you’re sitting next to one!

JC: (Laughs) I’ll be caught out here, I enjoy both of them.

JR: Who you rooming with for the tour:

JC: This week it’s Jason Rutledge, the hooker.

JR: Anything about rooming with him that peeves you off

JC: Probably him snoring… keeps me awake most nights!

JR: What would you say is the funniest thing you guys have gotten up to on a rugby tour?

JC: Tomorrow night, actually. We’ve actually got a thing tomorrow night where they have to go and find a girl and date her for the first time and take her out for tea with the boys. Going to be quite good!

JR: If you were ever in jail, who would you call for bail money?

JC: (laughs) Hmm. Probably my manager, Greg O’Brien.

Greg: Yeah mate I’m the only one who could afford to bail you out!

JR: This is a question on behalf of all South African women, what ACTUALLY goes on in a scrum?

JC: (laughs) I don’t play in the scrum… I get lost half the time too! What I know, 3’s a tight head, 1’s a loose head and the hooker is in the middle. They tell me that a tighthead when he scrums is scrumming against two shoulders… but yeah that’s all I know about a scrum. (More than what most refs know – Ed)

Have you ever…

JR: Cried during a movie?

JC: Yeah I think I have. Cried in a movie called 8 seconds. I’ve cried in a few movies actually.

JR: Had your heart broken:

JC: Yeah it gets broken so many times. Didn’t receive a Valentine’s gift… so that broke my heart. That’s only just recent too so (sad face).

JR: Aww shame that’s so sad! There’s definitely someone out there for you though. Anyways Jimmy what would you say your biggest fear is?

JC: Has to be heights!

JR: Three things you would take to a remote island?

JC: I’d take someone like James with… but just to supply the alcohol! Ooh I’d take Megan Fox, hmmm want else would I need. I’d need some music wouldn’t I? Yeah I’ll take an iPod.

JR: Lastly could you tell me one thing that many people may not know about you?

JC: I’m actually called Quinton James Cowan.

JR: Ooh that’s quite a cool tattoo. Was it sore?

JC: It wasn’t too bad. It’s just my All Black number and my star sign.

Robyn's Stylish Ballz, catches up with Bryan Habana in our next installment so look out for another in depth and insightful look into the more stylish side of rugby.
