SARU Could Decide Beast's Fate?

"We have also negotiated with Beast and I'm confident he'll also be running out for us next year," said Reyneke on the GLRU website.

Sharks' CEO Brian van Zyl is adamant that Mtawarira has signed another three-year contract with the Durban outfit, but according to the Lions, the player is said to refute that he is in fact bound by a contract adding that his future "might have to be decided by SARU."

Sharks coach John Plumtree has reacted with dismay, insisting that the iconic prop is going nowhere.

"He signed a three-year contract with us a few months ago," he told the Mercury newspaper.

"Why would he do that if he was unhappy? I suspect that there are outside influences at play here," Plumtree added.

The rumours are that The Lions have made an offer for the Springbok prop that the Sharks won’t be able to match and sources from the Lions camp indicate the move is merely a formality and the chance is excellent that Beast will be in a Lions jersey next season.

If Mtawarira does eventually end up playing for the Lions it will be a massive move for the prop who was nurtured by the Sharks in his formative years. It would also not go unnoticed that the Lions have traditionally been the end of the road for many props and front-rowers like Sephaka and Nkumane.

Lets hope Beast continues to be at the top of his game wherever he plays for the sake of South Africa.

@vaakjoe totally correct. Who wouldn't get another job if the pay is better. Sharks lose the best prop in the world because they don't want to pay. Also they lose Pat Cilliers. Terrible!

Hahaha suddenly the Sharks will know what it was like when Alberts and Ludik were stolen from us. Welcome Beast to the Lions Den!

It will be a tragedy if Beast goes. The Sharks took him from Zimbabwe and made him into a Bok. Where is the loyalty?

Sharks CEO and coach John needs to wake up and smell their coffee. The only person that can decide the fate of the Beast..... is the Beast himself. Yes, it would be unfortunate if the Sharks cannot match the offer of the Lions, but you don't have to be dissatisfied\unhappy for wanting to earn a few more buck$???? Two issues needs mention here.... 1. Beast knows he is the best loosehead in SA by 10 lightyears.... and is he receiving the best package that is due to him??? And 2. If the Beast does leave the Sharks.... Please, pretty please, don't tell me that old Dikkes 123 is capable of doing the job.. Because he is NOT!
